Pied Hein Eek is a Dutch product designer.
One of his most acclaimed collections is the 'Scrapwood' in which, as the name says, he uses only pieces of reclaimed wood to construct each furniture.
This collection was first idealized in 1990 as the designers' reaction 'against the prevalent craving for flawlessness' showing that even an imperfect piece can have an aesthetic appeal and be functional. The main idea was to produce a number of different furniture with an abundant material, even with the most limited resources.
Yet, he does not consider himself as a Green designer, but he embraces the ideals of sustainability in his work out of a respect for the environment and commitment to efficiency.
B’CONNECTED is a platform to share ideas and expand creativity by promoting young and established authors working in different areas of visual arts.
The authors and projects are selected based on creativity and innovation by BESIGN, a design company in Lisbon with a national and international customer base.
Each project shared is always identified with its rightful author who, solely, holds the copyright for his work and has full responsibility for any opinions or ideas expressed in it.
Fill the form and send us your work on B'CONNECTED UPLOAD.
