Jarego House - Portugal

CVDB Arquitectos was founded by Cristina Veríssimo and Diogo Burnay in 1999. The studio work ranges from urban design projects to new buildings, from rehabilitation of old buildings to interior architecture or ephemeral structures. With several national and international design awards, their work had been published and exhibited in several countries such as Portugal, France, Netherlands, Romania, Spain. etc.

The Jarego House explores the site depth to enable its inhabitants to visualize or wonder through the sequence of its several spaces. The garden and courtyard are part of the same spatial entity so one can inhabit this place and enjoy the multiple inter-relations between exterior and interior spaces. A concrete wall assembles circulation wit the different spaces on the ground floor, the entrance, the living room, the garden, wraps the music room and folds back to the living room. The ground floor spaces have different bedroom to accentuate their varied ambiences. The first floor with bedrooms and the children play area, facing the courtyard, gently sits above the ground floor concrete wall. The house smaller spaces, the kitchen and bathrooms, reveal themselves with colours and materials, exploring their particular spatial and light conditions. - CVDB Arquitectos
