'The volumes of the new building rise in a smooth transition from the height of single-family homes (east) to the imposing building of Westrand Cultural Center (south-west) by the noted Flemish architect 
Alfons Hoppenbrouwers. The main entrance faces the Cultural Center and the way to the city centre over the parking area, while the opposite end blends in with the houses and the natural preservation area of Wolfsputten. We are at the boundary between city and forest and we want to maintain and reinforce the existing delicate balance. The Academy and its Auditorium should be symbiotic, working together while maintaining their independence. They shall have a common lobby and shared services, but a control desk at a strategic point will separate both areas.
